My Beautiful Flaw: Mental Health Awareness Week

Dear Psychosis, If that’s even your real name. I want to say thank you. Thank you for introducing me to parts of myself that I’d never known, and for reintroducing me to the essence of Ellis. Who she was, who she is and who she could be. You forced me to heal from trauma bonds …

I’m Not Settling, And That’s That.

Somebody that I used to know used to tell me that I’m too much of a dreamer and that my expectations for a relationship were unrealistic. There were also times I was told that I wasn’t a "real woman" seeing as my idea of how things could work were nothing like the girls he dated …

Thank you to everyone that has been tuning into My Sacred Return podcast, sharing and supporting in other ways. It launched in March and already has reached countries across the world and has helped people realise that they’re not alone—which is the aim of this entire space.⁣
A reminder for those who are walking a healing path. Tag or share with a loved one who is also taking steps towards healing. I am proud of all of you 💜
People pleasing is a trauma response that serves nobody. We may do it under the guise that we are serving the needs of others, but those who allow us to depart from our authentic selves to meet their needs do not actually know what they need. We are helping enable their delusions as much as we are dissociating from our needs. It’s time to start saying no!⁣
Are you highly sensitive to the emotions of others? Do you find that you’re constantly fighting to hold onto your boundaries? Have you felt like a doormat in your relationships? Does it feel hard to say “no”?⁣
I remember the first time I read “All About Love” by bell hooks (RIP), and she stated that love and abuse cannot co-exist. It was a hard pill to swallow because most of the “love” I had received in life up until that point was nested in between the cracks of abusive relationships (in family, friends and romance). I had to accept that the people I was allowing to use me never loved me, and never knew how to. I had to accept that abuse and love cannot co-exist.⁣
Have you heard of the narcissistic abuse cycle?⁣
